Day 8: God's Child

To begin with, let’s talk a little about food. For lunch today, I had mashed potatoes with mandarins. Okay, I admit: it was green salad with mandarin pieces and mashed potatoes with meat and gravy. But since I like to mix my salad with mashed potatoes, I ended up having exactly that: mashed potatoes with mandarins. An interesting combination. Honestly, not bad at all.

For dinner, I had baked cheese with peach. Also not bad. There's always something new for my taste buds here, and I think that’s a good thing. Since you don’t get to choose what you eat, it would be terrible to be served the same thing every week.

I received this candle today, on my octave day, as a gift for my clothing ceremony—from someone who, unfortunately, couldn’t be there. On the back, the date of my clothing and my new name are written, and above that it says: “Rejoice, God is with you.”

I truly can. I can rejoice and count myself blessed. I am a child running toward the sun. A child reaching out to eternity with the Father. I know of His unconditional love and kindness. To be His child means to be truly loved, exactly as I am. I don’t need to pretend or become perfect first. He loves me now, with everything that I am, and He has always loved me.

During my retreat, this realization hit me hard. When I realized how deeply He loves me, even with all the mistakes I make, I began to cry. I wept with joy and gratitude. God is with me, and I am never alone.
