Day 11: Clothing Quirks

It's gotten cold. While walking through the garden and even during choir, I had to put on a jacket. That in itself isn’t so bad. A nice, cozy fleece jacket is great... if it weren’t for one problem: the veil! You can hardly imagine how it sticks to this material. It constantly feels like someone is pulling on the veil from behind, and you barely dare to move your head, thinking that at any moment you'll be standing there "bare-headed."

There are also plenty of other opportunities for mishaps. For example, the sleeves are double-layered up to the elbows. They are attached at two points, which makes them ideal for getting caught on doorknobs and the like. When that happens, it usually does so with such force that the thread tears, and you have to reattach the sleeve. This happened to me twice in just a few hours last week.

The scapular is another story altogether. It often gets stuck in a drawer, and when sitting or kneeling, you have to be careful to spread it out smoothly so you don’t press a bunch of wrinkles into it. Otherwise, you’ll hear, “How are you walking around like that?”

But despite all of this, I still feel incredibly comfortable in my new clothes and wouldn't give them up for anything. They are super comfortable, look good, and slowly but surely, even the tension in my shoulders is easing up.

And today, I had a real before-and-after experience while cleaning. All you have to do is clean the windows at a construction site...
