Our ornamental roses, which we use to decorate the church, have long been pruned for winter. Overnight, the trees have lost massive amounts of leaves, making our garden look quite bare now. But in one corner or another, you can still find a bloom that brings even more joy.
In summer, we delight in the lush variety and often don't necessarily notice individual flowers. Now, when there are none left, we stop as soon as we spot one, amazed by its resilience and persistence.
I believe many people feel the same way when they see a nun. They are astonished and wonder that such a thing still exists today. Especially when it's a young nun, because that means she has only recently decided to live in a convent. And that's something people don't do anymore these days.
The sight of a young nun seems to have become as rare as that of a blooming rose at the onset of winter. But we still exist. And I'm sure we always will. I even believe that soon there will be a new "spring" with many blooming roses.
